Week 4, Day 2
A Life of Excellence
When reading the story of Joseph, God’s favor on his life is evident. Let’s look!
In Genesis 37, we learn that Joseph was favored by his father Jacob, who gave him a coat of many colors. When his brothers noticed that their father favored Joseph, they became jealous. Joseph’s brothers were so jealous that they ambushed him and sold him to traders coming by.
Joseph was then sold to an important man named Potiphar to be enslaved, where he somehow managed to be favored by his captor. This favor quickly ran out when Joseph was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife. You could probably guess that Joseph was sent to prison. Wild, right? After some time in prison, Joseph had the chance to interpret Pharaoh’s dream, leading to his promotion from prisoner to a position of great authority in Egypt.
Although Joseph had some serious ups and downs, he lived a life of excellence. But it wasn’t easy. In Joseph’s life, we witness a remarkable journey of faith and favor. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Joseph’s unwavering trust in God’s plan allowed him to rise from the depths of a pit to the pinnacle of power.
As followers of Christ, we should take note that God chose Joseph! Likewise, God has chosen each of us for greatness in His kingdom. Just as Joseph’s coat symbolized favor and distinction, we are clothed with God’s love and grace, marking us as His children. Joseph’s story teaches us that no situation is beyond God’s ability to turn around. In our own lives, God can elevate us from seemingly hopeless situations to places of influence and impact when we trust in Him wholeheartedly.
Joseph’s favored life serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for us all. As we face trials and challenges, let us remember that God’s favor rests upon us, and He has a purpose and plan for our lives. Like Joseph, we can choose to live a life of excellence, trust in God’s providence, and extend forgiveness to others. As we walk in faith and obedience, we will experience the fullness of God’s blessings and witness His transformative power in our lives. May we be encouraged to embrace living a life of excellence and walk confidently in His favor every day.
