Sunday Prayer
Welcome to daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on the LORD as Yahweh Rohi, the LORD, my Shepherd. Today, we rejoice in the LORD’s personal guidance over our lives.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
LORD, you are my Shepherd. I yield my plans, my worries, and my pace to your guidance. Lead me where you want me to go.
I give everyone and everything to you.
O Lord, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.
A Scripture Reading from Psalm 23:1-6:
Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of Yahweh forever
A Prayer of Adoration
LORD, I praise you for your faithful care, your perfect wisdom, and your constant presence. You provide exactly what I need — food, rest, comfort, correction, and joy. Your goodness and mercy follow me wherever I go and for that, I adore you.
A Prayer of Confession
Forgive me for resisting your leadership. For trying to run ahead, or for staying behind in fear or doubt. Forgive me for chasing fleeting pleasures and forgetting that you are my Shepherd. I confess my wandering thoughts, my pride, and my restless heart. Forgive me for not trusting you in valleys of difficulty and danger.
Restore my heart to trust you fully. Lead me in the path of righteousness for your Name’s sake.
A Prayer of Trust
LORD, you are my Shepherd. I am yours. You know what I need. Even on the darkest days, you are with me. I trust that you are guiding me, correcting me, and preparing me for purposes beyond my understanding. Your goodness and mercy pursue me all the days of my life. I will be with you forever. You are my hope.
Intercession
O LORD, bring rest to the tired and discouraged, and wisdom to those making decisions. Direct them for your name's sake. Give courage to the fearful, peace to the troubled. Correct those who are going astray. Be close beside those who are in the valley.
We look to you.
A Moment of Reflection:
Lord, is there anywhere in my life where I am resisting your guidance?
Help me to follow your lead.
A Closing Prayer
Shepherd of my soul, I thank you for your tender care and constant presence. Thank you for leading me, restoring me, and protecting me. Let me dwell in your house all my life — resting in your goodness, rejoicing in your mercy, and treasuring you above all things. I rest in your loving care today.
