Saturday Heart Check
Welcome to Daily Prayer. Today is our weekly heart check. We are going to go a little slower today. We will spend time in gratitude. We will reflect on moments of weariness, weakness, and resistance. Then we will pray for healing and renewal.
I encourage you to slow down and breathe. Let’s not be in a hurry. Rush and hurry hinder us from our top priorities of loving God and others.
As we enter prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord.
1. Presence
Lord, here I am. I come into Your presence and quiet myself before You.
You are here with me, and I am here with You.
Lord, I give everyone and everything to you. I put aside everything grabbing for my attention.
A Moment of Gratitude
Father, thank you for this week. Thank you for the times where my heart felt alive, where I experienced joy and love. I remember them now before you and I thank you for these good gifts.
Take a moment to reflect on people and areas of life that you are thankful for.
Lord, I thank you for these good gifts.
A Prayer for Places of Wounding and Weariness
We are going to take a few minutes to reflect on places of wounding or pain from this past week.
Lord, you are my tower of strength and my place of refuge. Thank you that are attentive to my cries and you care for my needs.
Father, I bring to you the places where my heart has been weary, wounded, or numb this week.
You see where I have struggled, where I have carried burdens, where I have felt distant. I give these places of my heart into your hands. Please meet me here with your care and compassion.
Let’s reflect on moments of weariness, wounding, or pain.
“Lord, where has my heart been heavy, numb, or hurting this week?”
“Father, here is where I need your strength and care. Lord, this is where I need to know you’re with me.
If there is a particular person who has hurt you this week, lets walk in freedom by forgiving the wrong and letting go of the offense.
Here’s a prayer you can pray:
Lord, I choose to forgive them for what they have done and left undone. I cancel the debt that they owed me and I let go of the offense. I turn to you to meet my needs and heal my pain.
1 Peter 5:7, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
A Prayer of Confession
Father, I confess that there are times that I have resisted your Spirit this week, where I have lived from fear and selfishness.
Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us.
“Lord, where have I pretended or performed for others instead of resting in your acceptance and grace?
“Lord, I acknowledge that this was wrong. I missed the mark. Forgive me and restore me.”
You may even want to picture yourself giving these choices to Jesus. He will take care of it.
“Wash me clean, Jesus. Restore my heart.”
A Prayer of Healing and Renewal
Holy Spirit, I need more of you. Fill me with your life and peace. Renew me with your love. Restore my mind and imagination. Empower me with your grace.
May your favor rest on me and strengthen me today.
A Closing Blessing
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14
Amen
We’ll see you tomorrow as we worship the Lord together.
