Wednesday Prayer
Welcome to daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on the LORD as Yahweh Yireh which means the LORD will see to it or the LORD will provide. Today we rejoice that God provided the greatest gift at just the right time—Jesus Christ, who died for sinners so that we might be reconciled to Him and saved through his life.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
Surrender
LORD, I set aside everything grabbing for my attention.
I place my life in your hands.
May your name be honored in my life.
O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.
Surrender
LORD, I surrender my attempts to earn Your favor or control my life. I release my sin, fear, and striving, trusting in Your provision through Christ.
O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.
A Scripture Reading from Romans 5:5-8:
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
A Prayer of Adoration:
Father, I worship you for your redeeming love and the gift of your Spirit. At just the right time, while we were powerless to save ourselves, you provided the ultimate provision. You gave yourself for us.
Jesus, you bore our sins, defeated death, and opened the way for eternal life.
You have poured your love into my heart and given me a hope that does not disappoint and for that, I adore you.
A Prayer of Confession:
Lord, forgive me for doubting your provision and for living as if I need to secure my own salvation or hope. Forgive me for trusting in my own effort instead of resting in your love. I confess that apart from you, I can do nothing.
Cleanse my heart from unbelief and fear, and help me trust fully in Christ alone.
A Prayer of Trust:
Father, you have poured out your love through Christ, giving me life, hope, and peace that I do not deserve. I rest in your promise that nothing—no sin, no fear, not even death- can separate me from your love. It is by your faithfulness and grace alone. I trust that your hope does not disappoint and so I rest in hope today.
A Prayer of Intercession:
Lord, you are the God of hope. You are the God who provides. You’ve dealt with our sin on the cross and you pour love into our hearts. So would you pour your love into the hearts of those we know who are in a season of emptiness and despair?
Be their strength and shield Lord. Teach your church to reflect your provision, your generosity, and the hope of the gospel. May we be a people who encourage others by the way that we live that you see and provide.
A Moment of Reflection:
Take a few quiet moments and picture God pouring his love into your heart by the Holy Spirit. Hear what the Father has said to us: “While you were still far from me, I provided the greatest gift—My Son. Trust my love; trust my timing; trust my provision.”
Father, thank you for not sparing your own Son but graciously giving him up for us all. I love you Lord.
A Closing Prayer:
Yahweh Yireh, thank You for giving Your Son at just the right time. Thank you for pouring your love into my heart by the Spirit. Would you fill me up again so that I can pour it out. May your kingdom come, the name of Jesus be glorified, and the gospel advance through my life.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
