Monday Prayer
Welcome to daily prayer.
This week we are reflecting on the LORD as Yahweh Yireh which means the LORD will see to it or the LORD will provide. Today we reflect on the story of manna in the wilderness and the daily provision of the LORD.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
A Prayer of Surrender:
LORD, you are my provider, and I choose to depend on you today.
I release my striving and my fear of not having or being enough.
I will seek first your kingdom and I know you will provide
I give everyone and everything to You.
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.
A Scripture Reading from Exodus 16:2-4 and 35:
In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by Yahweh’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” Then Yahweh said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled;
they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.
A Prayer of Adoration:
Yahweh Yireh, you see and you provide. You love when your people trust you. You give what is needed, when it is needed. You provided daily bread from heaven for your people in the wilderness and you will provide for me, and for that, I adore you.
A Prayer of Confession:
LORD, forgive me for grumbling and complaining about what I do not have. Forgive me for hoarding what you meant me to receive with open hands. Forgive me for looking to other sources for security instead of trusting you. Cleanse my heart of anxiety, greed, and unbelief.
A Prayer of Trust:
LORD, I trust you to provide all that I need. Teach me to rest in your timing and be content with your care. Lord, you have never failed to provide what I truly need. You are the Bread of Life, I trust that if I seek first your kingdom and righteousness, that everything else will be taken care of.
A Prayer of Intercession:
LORD, provide for your people who hunger for food, hope, or healing. Sustain them with Your Spirit and let Your Word be nourishment to them.
LORD, teach us to be your hands and feet and show us how we can be generous and faithful in sharing your provision with others.
A Moment of Reflection:
Take a few moments before the Lord.
Ask Him, “LORD, what am I trying to hold onto instead of trusting you to provide?”
I trust in you today.
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.”
A Closing Prayer:
Yahweh Yireh, thank you for giving me all I need for today and for reminding me that you are the source of every good gift. Help me to walk in gratitude and dependence in times of plenty and in times of need. May I be a vessel of your provision to others, living as one who has received freely and gives freely.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
