Thursday Prayer
Welcome to Daily Prayer. This week we are reflecting on the LORD as Yahweh Yireh which means the LORD will see to it or the LORD will provide.
Today we rejoice that God’s ultimate provision is not just something he gives, but someone — Jesus, the Bread of Life, who satisfies our deepest hunger and sustains us forever.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
Surrender
LORD, I am completely dependent on you.
I release my striving to fill myself with things that cannot satisfy.
You alone are my portion and my provider.
I give everyone and everything to You.
O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.
A Scripture Reading from John 6:28–35:
Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
“Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
A Prayer of Adoration:
Jesus, You are the Bread of Life. No one who comes to you will ever go hungry. You satisfy my deepest hunger and meet my deepest need. You are the giver of life and the true nourishment for my soul. You give what no one else can — forgiveness, fullness, and true life and for that, I worship and adore you.
A Prayer of Confession:
LORD, forgive me for feeding on lesser things that cannot sustain me.
Forgive me for seeking fullness in success, comfort, or control instead of in you.
Cleanse my heart of every substitute and turn my hunger toward you alone.
A Prayer of Trust:
LORD, the only thing you require is that we believe. Jesus, I turn from every false hope and trust in you alone. I was made for you. You are the only begotten son of the Father and the Living Bread from Heaven. I have tasted and I know that you are the only true God and eternal life. I entrust myself to you and receive your abundant life.
A Prayer of Intercession:
LORD, nothing else can satisfy and there is no salvation anywhere else. I pray that you would draw the hearts of many in our community to trust in you.
Remove the veil, stir up the hunger and open up doors of opportunity for the gospel to be shared. May your church be a people who share both bread and the gospel with generosity and joy.
A Moment of Reflection:
LORD, you tell us, “whoever comes to me will never go hungry.”
Would you show me if there anything that's hindering me or holding me back from coming to you today?
Lord, I come to you for life today.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
A Closing Prayer:
Yahweh Yireh, thank you for giving us Jesus, the true Bread of Life.
Thank you that in Him, my soul is satisfied and my needs are met. May I live this day feeding on your Son, walking by Your Spirit, and sharing your provision with others.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
