Sunday Prayer

Oct 26, 2025

Welcome to daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on the LORD as Yahweh Shalom—the LORD is Peace. The peace of God is not simply the absence of conflict but the presence of wholeness, completeness and fullness. Today we reflect on Gideon, who encountered God in fear and weakness and discovered that peace comes through God’s presence and purpose. As Gideon obeyed God, the LORD himself would be his strength and would restore his people.

As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.

I surrender my fears and my need to control what is ahead of me.

Like Gideon, I often feel too weak or unsure to do what you ask.

LORD, you are the God who redeems, restores, and brings life.

I yield to you today.

I give everyone and everything to you.

O LORD, open my lips and my mouth will declare you praise.

A Scripture Reading from Judges 6:14-16 and 22-24

Yahweh turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

Yahweh answered, “I will be with you…

When Gideon realized that it was the angel of Yahweh, he exclaimed, “Alas, Lord Yahweh! I have seen the angel of Yahweh face to face!”

But Yahweh said to him, “Peace be to you! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”

So Gideon built an altar to Yahweh there and called it Yahweh Shalom (which means “the LORD is peace).

A Prayer of Adoration

Yahweh Shalom, you promise to be with us as we go about your business. You are patient and gracious with us in our weakness. I exalt You, O LORD, for being the source of wholeness and peace. You are my refuge, my hope, and my all-sufficient God and for that, I adore you.

A Prayer of Confession

LORD, Forgive me for wanting peace without surrender. I confess how easily I chase distractions, comfort, or control instead of running to you. Forgive my hesitation to trust that you will be with me. Cleanse my heart from fear and renew my confidence in your promises.

A Prayer of Trust

LORD, I choose to rest in you. I choose to walk in obedience and trust you to be with me.

You said to Gideon, “Go in the strength you have... Am I not sending you?”

I trust that you are sending me too—into my family, my work, my community.

Where you call, you provide; where you lead, you give peace.

A Prayer of Intercession

LORD, strengthen those who are following you in hard places. May the love of God compel them. Bring courage to believers who feel small or afraid. Heal families divided by fear or pride. May they obey your voice and know the strength of your presence. May Your people reflect your peace as we live for your glory.

A Moment of Reflection:

Take a few moments of silence.

Think about an area of your life where you are afraid to obey the LORD because of what it may cost you:

Hear these words spoken over you.

“Peace be to you; do not be afraid; the LORD will be with you.”

LORD, we say yes to trusting and obeying your Word.

A Closing Prayer

Yahweh Shalom, thank you that you are my peace and you give me purpose.

When you call me, you go with me. When I am weak, you are strong. When I am afraid, your presence is my hope. Help me walk today in confidence, knowing that true peace is found in trusting and obeying you. You will be with us.

In the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,

Amen.
