Thursday Prayer
Welcome to Daily Prayer. This week we are reflecting on Elohim—The purposeful Creator God of Genesis 1 who creates and sustains all things by his Word and Spirit.
Today, we focus on Jesus Christ, the eternal Word who existed from the very beginning with God, through whom all things were made.
As we enter prayer now, lets quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord.
Lord Jesus, eternal Word, I come before you today with open hands and an open heart.
I release all my worries and fears into your care.
I give everyone and everything to you.
A Scripture Reading from John 1:1–5
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
A Prayer of Adoration
Jesus, you are the radiant glory of Elohim. All things were made through you and nothing exists apart from you. I adore you as the source of all life and the light of the world.
A Prayer of Confession
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have walked in darkness and forgotten that true life comes through you alone. Cleanse my heart, open my eyes, and draw me close to you, the true source of life.
A Prayer of Trust
Lord Jesus, I trust that you are the way, the truth, and the life. I am in awe of your divine nature and I rest in you as my Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. You are my all in all.
A Prayer of Intercession
Jesus, Light of the World, I pray for those walking in darkness today—those caught in despair, in unbelief, in sin. Shine your light into their lives. Bring hope to those who are hopeless, healing to those who are broken, and salvation to those who are lost. May your light drive out the darkness in our families, our communities, and in our world.
A Moment of Reflection
Lord, would you shine your light on any area of my life where I am living in darkness?
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
A Closing Prayer
Jesus, eternal Word and true Life, Creator and Redeemer,
I am so thankful that nothing can overcome you.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God
Shine in my life today and through me into the lives of others.
May I walk in your light, reflect your life, and bear witness to your glory.
In your powerful name,
Amen.
