Sunday Prayer

Oct 5, 2025

Welcome to Daily Prayer. This week we are reflecting on God’s personal name, Yahweh. Yahweh is the eternal, self-existent and covenant-keeping God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who is ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ. Today we rest in the truth that Yahweh is the God who is and who will be with his people.

As we begin our prayer today, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.

Living God, I depend completely on you and look to you for life.

I release all my worries and all my cares to you.

I give everyone and everything to you.

“O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.”

A Scripture reading from Exodus 3:11-15

Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

And God said, “I will be with you…

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.

This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

A Prayer of Adoration:

Lord, your name is Yahweh. Your name is a testament to your active presence and faithfulness to your promises. You are who you are and you will be who you will be. You are the God who rescued your people from bondage. You will never be the God who used to be. You will always be the God who is. I adore you as the Living God who sees, who cares, and who acts on behalf of your people.

A Prayer of Confession:

Lord, I confess that there are times that I live as if I am self-sufficient. As if I don’t need you. I confess that I often lean on my own understanding. Forgive me for my pride and my anxiety.

A Prayer of Trust:

Lord, I trust in you. You are the maker and sustainer of all things and I trust that you are my source. I look to you as the way, the truth, and the life. That in my places of weakness, you will be with me.

A Prayer of Intercession:

Lord, I pray for those experiencing difficulty in this season. May they encounter you as their life and joy. Help them to experience you, not as an idea, but as the living God who delivers your people.

A Moment of Reflection:

Lord, where do I need to be humbled or liberated by the truth that the success of my life ultimately depends on you?

Exodus 3:11-15

Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

And God said, “I will be with you…

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

A Closing Prayer:

Lord, thank you that you have made yourself known and revealed your name to us. You are Yahweh. Other things may change but you remain the same. You are the God who is near and the God who rescues your people. May I rest in the confidence that you will be my deliver. I only need to entrust myself to you.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen

*Yahweh is used over 6,500 times in our Bibles. Out of respect for the Divine Name, it is identified in most English bibles by the word LORD in all capital letters.
