Tuesday Prayer
Welcome to daily prayer. This week we reflect on the LORD as Yahweh Rohi, the LORD, my Shepherd. Today, we rejoice that the LORD is faithful even when others fail.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
Prayer of Surrender
Lord Yahweh, I surrender to you as my true Shepherd. I lay down my need to control or to look for security in human strength. You alone know how to care for my soul. I am not an orphan. Teach me to follow where you lead and to rest where you make me lie down. My life belongs to you. I give everyone and everything to you.
O LORD, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.
A Scripture Reading from Ezekiel 34:8–10, 15–17
As surely as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock, therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh:
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Lord Yahweh.
I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy.
I will shepherd the flock with justice.
“‘As for you, my flock, this is what the Lord Yahweh says: I will judge between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats.
A Prayer of Adoration
O LORD, You are the Shepherd who never abandons your flock. You will make things right. You are just and righteous in all your ways. You seek the lost, bind up the wounded, and strengthen the weak. When others fail, you never do. You step in to guide, protect, and restore your people and for that, I adore you.
A Prayer of Confession
Forgive me, Lord, for the ways I have cared for myself more than for others. Forgive me for the times I have ignored those you called me to serve, and when I have trusted in my own strength rather than your care. Cleanse my heart from pride and selfishness. I call out to you for help.
A Prayer of Trust
LORD, you know what I need before I ask. You see what I cannot see. When life feels chaotic, I trust that you are before me and behind me. Help me rest in your justice, even when the world feels unfair or uncertain. Today I choose to trust you as my Shepherd.
A Prayer of Intercession:
Shepherd of Israel, tend your flock. Heal the injured in body and heart. Bring back those who have wandered away. Heal those who have been mistreated by earthly shepherds—by parents, pastors, and other leaders.
We especially pray that you would strengthen our pastors and raise up more leaders that reflect the heart of Jesus—to strengthen the weak, heal the sick, bind up the injured, bring back those who are straying. Restore your church to reflect your mercy, justice and love.
A Moment of Reflection:
Take a deep breath and remember: The LORD is your Shepherd. He invites you to bring him your pain and weakness and comes for you when you are lost. Yet he also calls you to account for how you care for others.
Ask the LORD this question:
“Lord, what area of my life are you highlighting for me to bring to you today — where do I need your healing, forgiveness, or help to shepherd others well?”
I give everyone and everything to You.
Ezekiel 34:15-16
I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Lord Yahweh.
I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy.
I will shepherd the flock with justice.
A Closing Prayer:
Lord Yahweh, You are my Shepherd, and I lack nothing when I am with you. Lead me in your ways today — in love, integrity, and tenderness. Let your justice and mercy flow through me so others see and experience your goodness and glorify your great Name.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
