Friday Prayer

Oct 17, 2025

Welcome to Daily Prayer. This week we are reflecting on the name Yahweh Rapha,

which means The LORD, your healer. Today we rejoice that the LORD has created the church as a healing community.

As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.

Lord, I lay down my need for control, my fear of illness, and my temptation to carry burdens alone.

I give everyone and everything to you.

O LORD, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.

A Scripture Reading from James 5:14–16

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

A Prayer of Adoration:

Yahweh Rapha, I adore you as the God who heals through your church. You have not left us alone and you don’t intend for us to live our lives alone. You have chosen to heal and restore me as part of an honest and faith-filled community. I worship you for creating us as a healing community.

A prayer of confession:

Lord, you teach us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another that we would be healed. There is not healing where there is not honesty. I acknowledge that there are times that I have kept my sin hidden out of shame, fear, or a desire to control what others think of me. Forgive me for ignoring your Word and being a barrier to others sharing honestly. I confess that I have not relied on your grace and have sought to protect my image.

I have left undone those things which I ought to have done and have done those things which I out not to have done; and apart from your grace, there is no health in me. I confess that I have doubted that my prayers would have any effect and have not trusted the power of your Name. Forgive me Lord.

A prayer of Trust:

LORD, I trust that your name is powerful. You have saved me by grace and have included me in your family. It is through the power of the name of Jesus and faith in your name that salvation and healing take place. I trust that the prayer of faith accomplishes what you intend, that your power can heal the sick. I rely on your Spirit to energize my prayers and bring about your will, knowing that even the smallest prayer offered in faith is mighty in your hands.

A Prayer of Intercession:

Lord, I pray for our church community. May we be a healthy community full of honesty and faith. May your people be full of grace and truth. Teach us to pray with faith and compassion. May your light shine in the darkness. Lord, stretch out your hand to heal, that signs and wonders would be done in the name of Jesus.

A Moment of Reflection:

LORD, who are the people you’ve placed in my life to walk with me in confession and prayer?

A Closing Prayer:

LORD, thank you that you hear us when we pray and that our prayers matter. I don’t want to pretend before you or others. Give me grace to participate faithfully in the life of our community, confessing, praying, and supporting others who trust in you.

I trust you Lord and I worship you as the God who saves, heals and restores. I give everyone and everything to you.

In the Name of Jesus,

Amen
