Sunday Prayer

Nov 2, 2025

Welcome to daily prayer. This week we reflect on the LORD as Yahweh Yireh which means the LORD will see to it or the LORD will provide. Today we remember Abraham’s faith-filled obedience and God’s faithful provision. Today is also the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. We lift up our brothers and sisters around the world who face persecution for their faith.

As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.

LORD, I surrender my fears, my plans, and what I hold most dear to you.

Here I am, I am available.

I give everyone and everything to you.

O LORD, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.

A Scripture reading from Genesis 22:1-2 and 9-14

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”

“Hineni- Here I am,” he replied.

Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of Yahweh called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Hineni-Here I am,” he replied.

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

So Abraham called that place Yahweh Yireh-The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of Yahweh it will be provided.”

A Prayer of Adoration

Lord, I worship you for your faithfulness and provision. This story is a model and a type of the faith that you love and of the provision you supply. Abraham knew that you would keep your word. You would raise the dead if you needed too. You are a promise-maker and a promise-keeper. You are the One who sees, provides, and works all things for the good of your people and for that, I adore you.

A Prayer of Confession

Forgive me, LORD, for doubting your provision and for protecting myself. Forgive me for trying to control outcomes, holding back obedience, or seeking my comfort over your glory. Cleanse my heart from fear and help me trust you more fully.

A Prayer of Trust

LORD, I trust that you can provide in ways that I cannot imagine. Nothing is impossible for you. I trust that you are working out your rescue plan for your glory and my good. Strengthen my faith to obey you, even when the path is hard, and remind me that your way is the way of eternal life.

A Prayer of Intercession

LORD, we remember our brothers and sisters throughout the world who are being persecuted and oppressed for their faith. Lord, would provide for their needs, strengthen their courage, and comfort their hearts. Uphold them that they would not lose heart or give up the faith.

May your faithfulness be their hope. May the gospel of Jesus spread and be honored in all these places.

A Moment of Reflection

LORD, we trust you to provide for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. How do you want me to stand with and pray for them in this season?

A Closing Prayer

LORD, thank you for seeing and providing for your people. It may not be my way or the easy way but you will provide. May your kingdom advance, may your people be sustained, and may your glory be revealed. Strengthen the persecuted church and help us support them in prayer and love.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.
