Tuesday Prayer
Welcome to daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on God as El Roi, which means “the God who sees me”. Today we rest in the truth that El Roi strengthens the one who is fully committed to him.
As we begin our prayer now, lets quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord.
A Prayer of Surrender
Lord, you are the God who sees. You strongly support those who trust in you. You draw near to those who draw near to you. I seek you again today. I surrender all the things that are grabbing for my heart. I give everyone and everything to you.
O Lord, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.
A Scripture Reading from 2 Chronicles 16:9:
“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth
to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”
A Prayer of Adoration:
Lord, I praise you that you are a God who strengthens your people. You are looking for people who will trust you. Over and over, your people have turned away from you and experienced loss. Over and over, you have sent your prophets to warn and to call them back. Over and over your people find rescue when they turn to you. I adore you as a God of mercy and faithfulness. You are looking for those you can strongly support.
A Prayer of Confession:
Lord, I find it difficult to commit to anything. I am tentative, indecisive and afraid. I confess that I am often divided and not totally committed to you. I look to others for protection, approval and power. I acknowledge my need to smash my idols and turn to you. Lord, I repent today and turn to you.
A Prayer of Trust:
Lord, I trust that you will strengthen me as I trust in you. I’m thankful for your faithfulness. I know what you are like. You do not change.
You will strengthen and support every heart that is fully committed to you. Lord, where else can we go, you are the source of life?
A Prayer of Intercession for Others:
Lord, I pray for your people who are in seasons of difficulty. For those are being tempted to look elsewhere for rescue and help. Please strengthen and uphold them today.
A Moment of Reflection:
Lord, I know that rest and peace come from a total commitment to you.
El Roi, where is my heart divided?
Lord, I give this area to you. Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your Name.
A Closing Prayer:
Lord, I thank you that you have not forsaken me in my weakness. I thank you for the invitation to wholehearted trust. I say “Yes” today. You give us freedom to choose and you strongly support those who trust in you. I choose to entrust myself to you today.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom 15:13).
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
