Sunday Prayer

Sep 7, 2025

Welcome to daily prayer. Today we are beginning a ten-week journey into the nature and character of God as revealed through his names. In this first week we are reflecting on God’s name as a place of safety, strength, and intimacy. As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord.

As we begin, I want to invite you to release all your worries and cares to God.

Lord, I give everyone and everything to you.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night.

“O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.”

A Scripture Reading from Proverbs 18:10 –

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

the righteous run into it and are safe.”

A Prayer of Adoration: Father, Your name is a strong tower, a refuge where I am fully safe and secure. I praise You for being my protector, my shield, and my constant presence. Your name carries the weight of power, holiness, and tender care, and I delight to dwell in it.

A Prayer of Confession: God, my Father, forgive me for seeking protection in things that cannot save. Forgive me for moments when I’ve ignored Your presence, thinking I had to rely on my own strength or wisdom. I acknowledge my need to hide in the safety of Your name.

A Prayer of Trust: Lord, I trust that Your name is enough to keep me safe in every situation. I trust Your character, Your promises, and Your power to guide and guard me today. I will run to Your name and find strength and peace there.

A Prayer of Intercession for Others: Lord, I pray that any of your people feeling vulnerable or fearful today will find refuge in Your name. May they experience the strength and protection that comes from trusting in You. Let Your name be a tower of hope for them today.

A Moment of Reflection: Lord, where in my life do I most need to take refuge in your name today?

I want to invite you to ask the Lord that question in your own words.

Proverbs 18:10:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.”

Lord, thank You for being my tower, my safety, and my strength. May I walk through this day confident in Your presence and power. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
