Friday - Pray Like This
Welcome to daily prayer. Today we are continuing our journey through the Lord’s prayer with a special focus on the phrase “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Today we will mediate on The Father’s will for us to be conformed into the image of His Son.
PAUSE: Before we begin, let’s pause and focus our thoughts on our Savior.
I love You Lord. I belong to You. With You is where I want to be. There is no greater thing than
knowing You Jesus. Right now, Lord, I give everyone and everything to You. Help my mind and
heart to encounter you in these next few moments.
SCRIPTURE: A Scripture reading from Romans 8:28-29
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
RESPOND/REJOICE: Lord, once again, this seems to good to be true. How can it be that Your
destiny for us is to make us become just like You? You are perfect and holy. We rejoice in your
goodness and beauty. Thank you for weaving together every aspect of our lives for good.
Thank you for your will, to ultimately make us into the image of Jesus.
ACKNOWLEDGE OUR NEED/ASK FOR HELP: Jesus, the ultimate goal You have for my life is
to make me like You. Forgive me for letting other lesser dreams and desires take over my
focus. Lord, I acknowledge my need today. I cannot be transformed in my own strength. Lord, I
am weak. I wander easily. I give my heart away. I forget who You are and who I am in You.
Forgive me Jesus and bring me back to the intimate place of trusting You today.
Clear my mind where I am clouded. Soften my heart where I have become cynical and hard.
Calm the anxiety and fear that often tries to rule me. Your will for my life is for my good and
Your glory. May Your will be done in the body today on earth as it is in heaven.
SCRIPTURE AGAIN: Let’s read the Scripture again and agree with His plans…
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
YIELD and SAY YES:
Today, Lord, I say yes to being transformed into the image of Jesus. I give into the long, slow,
ands sometimes painful process of becoming like You. I give you access to any part of me that
I have been holding back, knowingly or unknowingly. I yield to Your good plan today.
As we end our time together, let’s join in with the saints that came before us and the body of
Christ around the world today by praying the Lord’s Prayer:
*LORD’S PRAYER*
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us
lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
for yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen.
