Wednesday - Pray Like This

Welcome to Daily Prayer. We are continuing this week to dive into this special phrase

of The Lord’s Prayer, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Today, we will look at

Jesus’ teaching that obeying His will and surrendering fully to Him must flow out of love.

Help us today Holy Spirit to pray.

PAUSE:

Before we begin, let’s pause to gather the scattered pieces of our mind and thoughts

and focus them on our Savior who is here with us and wants to speak with us.

Lord, here I am and here You are. Help me to be present with You in these moments.

I love you Jesus.

SCRIPTURE: A Scripture reading from John 14:15-17 and 21:

“If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

RESPOND/REJOICE:

Lord, this love is too much for my limited mind to fully understand.

Open my heart to your love.

Thank you for your care for me. Thank you for remaining with me, for living inside of me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to intimately know you.

I praise you for being the God who chooses to reveal himself to broken people.

ACKNOWLEDGE OUR NEED/ASK FOR HELP: Jesus, my spirit is willing, but my flesh is

weak. I acknowledge the desire to love you with all I am, the desire in me to obey You, but I so

often feel like I fail at this.

Lord, I can’t make myself love you more. I need you to fan the flame of love in me. I need You to move head knowledge down to heart knowledge.

Let me love you more Jesus.

I want to love you passionately like You love me. I want to be in love with you for the long haul.

I want to obey You out of love. Reveal Your passionate love to the body today.

Lord in a fresh way, bring our hearts to desire You above all other loves!

As we read the Scripture again, ask Jesus to draw Your heart into deeper love with Him"

YIELD and SAY YES:

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, my heart says “yes” to loving You today.

When competing things try to enter my heart, help me continue to choose You.

I yield to Your will and plan today. Your will for me comes from passionate love. Help me to trust and to lean

into obedience today. Open my heart, soul, and mind to deep love with You, Jesus.

You are the bridegroom and we are Your bride.

As we end our time together, let’s join in with the saints that came before us and the body of

Christ around the world today by praying the Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
