Seeking Peace

----

Psalm 34:12–15

Who is the man who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,

and His ears are open to their cry for help.

This passage speaks to every person. If we desire a long life filled with good, Scripture tells us how to live it: keep our tongues from evil. In today’s world, that means guarding not only what we say, but also what we allow into our minds. Too often, we accept evil through what we watch, listen to, and speak.

Speaking deceit can mean manipulation, gossip, or tearing others down. These things bring disunity and darkness into our hearts, which eventually leads to sinful actions and separation from God.

How should we live? Verse 14 says, “Turn away from evil and do good.” We must actively reject any attitude, action, or thought that does not reflect God’s character. Our lives should display His goodness. For believers, that means reflecting Christ. When our hearts align with Him, goodness naturally follows.

True peace is oneness with God. To seek peace is to seek Christ Himself. Placing our faith in Him brings us into relationship with God, and our daily pursuit must be to live in unity with Him. This is the work of the Holy Spirit—to renew our minds so our thoughts become like His, producing a life that looks more like Jesus.

God is always watching over those who do what is right and is ready to hear when they call to Him.

Each day, let’s pause and ask: Am I pursuing God—or the world? To seek peace is to chase after His presence, letting it shape every word, thought, and action.

Prayer:

Lord, help me guard my tongue and turn from every form of evil so my life reflects Your goodness.

Teach me to seek peace and live in oneness with You each day. Fill me with Your Spirit so that my words and actions bring unity and hope. May others see Your peace at work in me and be drawn to You. Amen.
