Monday - A Prayer of Surrender
Welcome to Daily Prayer. Today we focus on a life of surrender.
SCRIPTURE
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Some seasons require surrender—not because you failed, but because God is inviting you into freedom. Often what exhausts us most is carrying responsibilities, burdens, and battles that God never asked us to carry alone. As the year closes, God may be whispering, “Let this go. Lay this down. Release what is not yours to fix.”
Surrender is not weakness; it is wisdom. It's the recognition that your life cannot be transformed by willpower alone. God’s Spirit is the source of true healing, true growth, and true change. When you release control, you make room for Him to move in ways you never could.
Let 2025 end with open hands instead of stressful determination. Let God lift the weight you were never meant to carry into the next season. Surrender is the doorway to rest, renewal, and joy.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I surrender everything I’ve been carrying this year—the worries, the responsibilities, the frustrations, the disappointments, and the expectations I placed on myself. I confess that I often try to do things by my own strength and fix things by my own wisdom. Today, I release the illusion of control. Holy Spirit, take every burden off my heart. Lead me into a posture of trust. Show me what to release, what to keep, and what to wait on.
- I surrender relationships that I cannot heal on my own.
- I surrender problems I cannot solve.
- I surrender dreams that need Your timing.
- I surrender the next steps that aren’t yet clear.
Move in my life in ways only You can. As I close this year, free me from striving and fill me with Your peace. Teach me to rely on Your Spirit, not my own strength. I trust You with my past, my present, and my future.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
CLOSING
Over the next few moments, spend time releasing your burdens to the Lord. If you feel distracted, lean in to those distractions, acknowledging and releasing those as well. The more we release, the more glory God gets in the end. Rest in the peace that comes knowing that you have given control back to God.
