Thursday - Above and Beyond
Welcome to Daily Prayer. Today we put all of our trust in the Lord - the God Who is more than enough.
SCRIPTURE
Ephesians 3:20
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
As you step into this new year, pause and let Ephesians 3:20 settle into your spirit. God is not limited by our past, our failures, or even our best ideas. He is the God of immeasurably more—the God who exceeds expectations, breaks boundaries, and surprises His people with grace and power.
This verse doesn’t point to our ability; it points to His. You may feel unsure, worn from last year, or uncertain about what’s ahead, but God’s power is already at work within you. That means you don’t walk into this year empty handed. You carry the presence, strength, and promises of a God who is able.
This year, dare to ask big. Dare to imagine again. Trust God for wonderful, unexpected, above-and-beyond things. Don’t shrink your prayers to fit your circumstances—let your prayers grow to match His desires. God isn’t intimidated by your hopes; He invites them.
So lift your head and enter the year with expectation. God has not brought you this far to leave you. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is working in your life even when you can’t see it. Choose to believe that God has goodness ahead, purpose ahead, and miracles ahead. Walk into this year not with fear, but with faith in a God who specializes in the impossible.
PRAYER
Thank You for bringing me into a new year. Thank You that You are the God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, immeasurably more than all I could ever ask, think, or imagine. As I step into the days ahead, I surrender this year to You. I ask You to shape my desires, guide my steps, and stretch my faith.
Lord, awaken fresh hope within me. Remove every heavy burden from last year —the discouragements, disappointments, and fears—and replace them with confidence in Your power and goodness. Help me to believe You for great things. Let this be a year where Your presence is unmistakable in my life, my home, my relationships, and my decisions. Father, I invite Your “more” into my circumstances—
- more peace where there has been anxiety
- more strength where there has been weakness
- more clarity where there has been confusion
- more joy where there has been heaviness.
Do what only You can do. And as You work in me, help me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your heart. Use me this year for Your glory. Let Your power within me shine brighter than any challenge around me. I declare that this will be a year of Your goodness, breakthrough, and blessing—not because of my ability, but because of who You are.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
CLOSING
Over the next few moments, allow faith to arise in your spirit. Begin praying big prayers for the year ahead. Pray for your family, your relationships, your body, and the ministry He has prepared for you. Be bold and ask the Lord of the impossible to more than you could ever ask or imagine.
