Wednesday - Because He Lives

May 13, 2026

Welcome to Daily Prayer. This is Week 5 of the Because He Lives series — encounters with the risen Jesus. This week we pray through the encounter the disciples had with Jesus in Galilee, where he spoke one of the most meaningful passages in Scripture — the Great Commission. Let us quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord, anticipating a special connection with him today. Father, today we give everyone and everything to you.

Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV)

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Word of Encouragement

Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples…” You are not just saved—you are sent. Your life has purpose. You are part of God’s mission to reach people, restore hearts, and reveal His love. God is already at work in people’s lives. He simply invites you to join Him. He invites us to learn the ways of the Kingdom and to help others do the same. Every day is an opportunity to reflect Jesus and His glory.

A Prayer of Adoration

Jesus, thank you for inviting me into your mission. You are at work in the world, and you allow me to be part of it. What an honor—to reflect you and represent your heart. Your heart has always been for the lost, the broken, and the wandering. Thank you for pursuing people with compassion and truth.

A Prayer of Confession

Lord, I confess that I often hold back. I stay comfortable instead of stepping out. I ignore opportunities. I hesitate when you prompt me. Forgive me for making my life about myself instead of your mission. I confess that fear of rejection or awkwardness sometimes keeps me silent. At times I care more about comfort than about people who need hope.

A Prayer of Petition

Lord, open my eyes today. Help me see people the way you see them. Give me courage to act when you prompt me. Give me words when I need to speak. Give me compassion that moves me toward others. Use my life—even in small ways—to make a difference. Fill me with genuine love for others instead of treating ministry like an obligation. Help my life reflect your kindness, truth, and courage in everyday moments.

Closing Prayer

During these last few moments, ask Jesus: “Who is one person you are putting on my heart?” Hold that person before Him. Pray for them, and ask the Lord to lead you in any way that He may want to send you.
