Tuesday - Because He Lives

May 12, 2026

Welcome to Daily Prayer. This is Week 5 of the Because He Lives series — encounters with the risen Jesus. This week we pray through the encounter the disciples had with Jesus in Galilee, where he spoke one of the most meaningful passages in Scripture — the Great Commission. Let us quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord, anticipating a special connection with him today. Father, today we give everyone and everything to you.

Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV)

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Word of Encouragement

Jesus says, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” That means there is no higher power. You will never face anything beyond His rule. The One who speaks to the disciples—and to you—is not offering advice. He is speaking as the King over all things. This changes everything. It means your future is not left to chance. Your struggles are not outside His reach. And it also means—you can trust Him. Because the One who sends you is the One who holds everything together.

A Prayer of Adoration

Jesus, you have all authority. You reign over heaven and earth. There is nothing beyond your reach—no circumstance, no struggle, no failure. You are sovereign, powerful, and completely trustworthy. Nothing surprises you and nothing can stand against your purposes. Your power is matched by your goodness, mercy, and wisdom. I worship you as the King over all things—past, present, and future.

A Prayer of Trust

Lord, I release my grip on control. I don’t want to the be the Potter, or the Shepherd, or the Author. When I am tempted to panic, remind me that you are still on the throne. Help me rest in your leadership instead of exhausting myself with worry. I am limited in my capacity. But you are unlimited in every way. I place everything under your authority. You are Lord—not me. And I choose to trust you.

A Prayer of Intercession

Jesus, I bring before you the areas of my life that feel unstable or uncertain. Would your authority bring peace where there is anxiety order where there is confusion…and hope where there is discouragement? I also lift up others who are struggling to surrender to You. Would you open their eyes to your power and glory today? Would your kingdom come and your will be done in the lives of those I love? Bring healing, salvation, wisdom, and peace wherever darkness has settled.

Closing Prayer

During these last few moments, name the things you’ve been trying to control. What feels heavy? Where have you believed the outcome depends on you? One by one, release them back into the hands of Jesus. He has all authority…and you can rest in the truth that His will will be done.
