Saturday Heart Check - Because He Lives
Welcome to Daily Prayer and our Saturday Heart Check. Take a moment to slow down. Let the noise of the day begin to quiet. You do not need to rush through these next few minutes. Today we will pray for the Lord to search our hearts, our faith, and our failures. Father, today we give everyone and everything to you.
Word of Encouragement
John 21 is a tender passage for a heart check. Jesus meets tired disciples in ordinary life. He provides for them, feeds them, restores Peter, and calls him again to follow. This is the kind of Savior who knows how to search the heart without crushing it. He searches in order to heal, restore, and lead us forward. When he asks, “Do you love me?”, he is not trying to crush us. He is inviting us back to what really matters.
A Prayer of Adoration
Jesus, I worship You as the One who comes near with tenderness and truth. You meet tired people, feed weary people, restore failing people—and call them all forward in grace. You are steady, patient, and full of mercy. Thank You for being this kind of Savior.
Guided Reflection and Prayer
Lord, help me slow down and become honest before You. You met disciples with an empty night behind them. So I ask You now: where am I weary? Where do I feel worn down, discouraged, or weak? Where have I kept going outwardly while inwardly feeling empty?
Pause quietly before the Lord and listen for His voice.
Jesus, meet me in that weariness. Nourish what feels depleted. Strengthen what feels weak. Teach me how to receive from You. Lord, You asked Peter, “Do you love me?” So I ask You now: what is happening in my love for You? Has my heart grown distracted? Has love become dull, divided, or crowded out by other things? Where do I need to return to love for Christ more deeply and sincerely?
Pause again, and listen.
Jesus, search my heart gently. Deepen my love for You. Clear away what competes for first place. Bring me back to what matters most. Lord, You said, “Follow me.” Where does following You feel costly? Where am I hesitant to trust You fully?
Be still with an open heart.
A Prayer of Thankfulness
Thank You, Lord, that You do not leave Your people in emptiness or failure. Thank You that You still restore. Thank You that You still feed, heal, and call. Thank You that the risen Jesus is still patient with tired hearts. You are worthy of wholehearted love. Thank You that You invite me to follow You again today.
Closing Prayer
During these last few moments, stay quietly before the Lord. Let Him show you any place of weariness, diminished love, or resistance to following. Name it honestly, and ask Jesus to nourish your soul, deepen your love, and help you surrender to Him in a new and deeper way.
