Saturday Heart Check - Because He Lives
Welcome to Daily Prayer and our Saturday Heart Check. Take a moment to slow down. Let the noise of the day begin to quiet. You do not need to rush through these next few minutes. Today we will pray for the Lord to search our hearts, our faith, and our fears. Father, today we give everyone and everything to you.
A Word of Encouragement
In the passage this week, we see that Jesus is not in a hurry with fearful or struggling people. He appears to the disciples at a time they were all hiding in fear. Thomas is there, struggling to fully accept all that he is hearing. Jesus enters the room. He speaks peace more than once. He shows His wounds. He returns for Thomas. That means you do not need to hide from Him today. You do not need to disguise fear, unrest, doubt, or weariness. Jesus is able to meet you honestly. And the One who searches the heart does so with mercy. He is not looking for reasons to push you away. He comes to bring peace, strengthen belief, and renew life in His name.
A Prayer of Adoration
Jesus, I worship You as the risen Lord who comes near with peace. You are patient with fearful people and merciful with doubting hearts. You are full of truth, yet full of tenderness. You do not abandon those who struggle. You are strong, steady, and kind. Thank You for being a loving, approachable Savior.
Guided Reflection
Lord, help me slow down and become honest before You. You came to disciples whose doors were locked for fear. So I ask You now: where is there fear in me? What feels unsettled? What feels guarded? What am I bracing myself against? Pause quietly before the Lord.
Jesus, I bring You those fears. I do not want to manage them alone. Speak peace into the places where my heart feels anxious, tight, or uncertain. And Lord, You showed them Your hands and Your side. You reminded them that peace had been purchased through Your suffering.
So I ask You: where do I need to remember Your finished work? Where have guilt, shame, or striving been louder than grace? Where do I need to rest again in what You have done for me?
Pause again. Allow His Spirit to speak to you.
Jesus, anchor me in Your wounds and in Your victory. Remind me that my peace does not rest on my performance, but on Your finished work. And Lord, You said to Thomas, “Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
So I ask You now: where has my faith grown weak? Where have I become doubtful, tired, or slow to trust? Where do I need fresh faith today?
Give the Lord another opportunity to speak.
Jesus, strengthen what has grown weak in me. Meet me in the places where I struggle to believe. Draw me from fear into peace, from doubt into trust, and from weariness into renewed life.
Closing Prayer
During these last few moments, stay quietly before the Lord. Let Him show you any place of fear, shame, unrest, or weak faith. Name it honestly. Then ask Jesus to restore your peace, strengthen belief, and renew your heart and mind to approach the rest of this day overflowing with His presence.
