Saturday Heart Check - Because He Lives

Apr 18, 2026

Welcome to Daily Prayer. Today is a weekly Heart Check. We will use Mary

Magdalene’s encounter with Jesus as our guide. As we begin our time together, let’s

quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord.

A Word of Encouragement

In the passage this week, Jesus meets Mary at the garden tomb where she had gone

to mourn His death. Tenderly, He asks Mary questions intended to slow her down:

“Why are you weeping?” and “Whom are you seeking?” He is not shaming her. He is

gently drawing her heart into the light.

We often live too fast to notice what is happening within us. We move quickly from task

to task, conversation to conversation. But the heart is not healed in a hurry. And the

Lord does not force His work in us at a frantic pace.

So today, this is a moment to slow down. To let Jesus search your heart. To notice

what is tender, what is tired, and what may be resisting Him. And to remember that the

One who searches you does so with mercy.

A Prayer of Adoration

Jesus, I worship You as the One who is both strong and gentle.

You are risen, victorious, and full of mercy.

You do not rush past hurting people.

You do not ignore what is happening in the heart.

You are patient, attentive, and kind.

Thank You for the way You meet Your people personally.

Thank You that You are willing to sit with me here, even in quietness, even in weakness.

A Prayer of Petition

Lord, help me slow down now.

Quiet my thoughts. Settle my breathing.

Help me become still before You. Search me gently, Jesus.

Show me if there is any place of woundedness in me.

Is there a disappointment I have not fully brought to You?

Is there a hurt I have pushed aside?

Is there a grief, a frustration, or a heaviness still sitting quietly in my heart?

Pause there for a moment before the Lord.

Jesus, if there is woundedness in me, bring it into the light.

I do not want to hide it, minimize it, or rush past it.

Meet me there with compassion.

Bring healing where my heart is still tender.

Now, Lord, show me if there is any place of weariness in me.

Where am I tired? Where have I been running on empty?

Where have I smiled outwardly while feeling thin inwardly?

Where do I need renewal more than I have wanted to admit?Pause again and let the Lord bring something to mind.

Jesus, I bring You my weariness. Renew what feels depleted.

Strengthen what feels tired. Restore joy where I have become drained.

Teach me to receive rest as a gift from You.

And Lord, show me if there is any place of resistance in me.

Is there somewhere I am resisting trust?

Resisting surrender? Resisting obedience? Resisting forgiveness?

Resisting the slower work You want to do in me?

Sit quietly with that for a moment.

Jesus, soften what has grown hard in me.

Bend what has become stubborn.

Loosen what I have held too tightly.

Make my heart tender toward You again.

A Closing Prayer of Thankfulness

Thank You, Lord, that You search the heart in love.

Thank You that You do not expose me to shame me.

Thank You that You uncover in order to heal.

Thank You for Your patience with what is unfinished in me.

Thank You that renewal is possible in Your presence.

Thank You that You are still speaking, still healing, and still drawing Your people near.

Lord, thank you for this time together. Help me to live this day in Your will, loving freely

and receiving love freely—all for Your glory.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
