Friday - Pray Like This (Doxology)
Welcome to daily prayer. This is the final week that we are praying together through The Lord’s Prayer. This week, we will focus on the phrase,
“For Yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Today, we will look at the description of the new Kingdom in Revelation. This is what we look forward to as we walk this earthly pilgrimage. Before we begin, let’s pause together and bring our scattered senses into the Presence of the Lord.
PAUSE:
Lord, here I am and here You are. Thank you for Your presence. Thank you for wanting to speak to me, for desiring my attention, for longing to be with me. I long to be with You. I long to hear you speak. Open my heart to Your Word today.
SCRIPTURE: A Scripture reading from Revelation 21:1-7
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
RESPOND:
Oh Lord, we thank you for giving us a glimpse of what is to come. Thank you for the promise of this Kingdom that we are walking toward together. It sounds so wonderful and whole—so pure, and full of joy. We cannot wait for the day when you wipe away every tear….for the day when pain will not exist anymore, for the day when You will dwell with us face to face. Father, being with you in Your Kingdom is our heart’s desire. We worship you for being the beginning and the end. We praise you for making all things new.
ASK:
Lord, we ask for you to set our gaze on Your Kingdom and power and glory. May we not be distracted by this earthly Kingdom that we live in now. Help us to remember as we walk through this day, that You are the most powerful King. You are a gracious, kind, and good King. No matter what this world tells us, You have the final word. Nothing happens on this earth or in our lives that your loving gaze doesn’t see Lord. We ask that more people today would come to know You Jesus. Speak your name into ears that are longing for truth. Open eyes that have been blind and soften hearts that have been hard. Let us be people who walk this earth reflecting Your Kingdom that others want to follow.
SCRIPTURE AGAIN— Lord, as we read the Scripture again, may Your words sink deeper into our beings…
YIELD:
Jesus, You are the King of the world. I say yes to your Kingdom, your power and your glory today. I want to walk this day honoring you in all that I say and do. May my life be a place where your Kingdom can develop and grow and thrive. Reveal anything in me today that is resisting Your ways that I may repent and wholeheartedly follow You, my King.
ENDING BLESSING:
Receive this blessing as we end our time together…
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may he make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
