Tuesday - Pray Like This (Doxology)
Welcome to daily prayer. This week, we are finishing our journey through The Lord’s Prayer with the phrase,
“For Yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Today, we will remember together that our King, Jesus taught us to seek first this Kingdom and all else that we need will be given to us. Before we begin, let’s pause to be still and know that He is God.
PAUSE:
In Him, we live and move and have our being.
SCRIPTURE:
A Scripture reading from Matthew 6:28-34
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
RESPOND:
What would my life look like if I did not first give myself and my mind to the cares and concerns of this world.. but gave myself first to my Lord and His Kingdom? More than ever we are living in a world of distraction- where busyness and productivity seem to rule us. Lord, You call us to a quiet place of daily seeking You. You want us to be with You. Forgive us Oh Lord for choosing the things of this world over Your wonderful Presence.
ASK FOR HELP:
Help us Lord to choose the better portion like Mary who in simplicity, sits at your feet. No agenda. Just being with You. Teach us again Lord how to be with You. You are worthy of our full attention and affection. Forgive me Father for worrying about the cares of this world. I want to think about Your concerns more than my own. You know what I need, Lord. Help me to trust You and seek Your Kingdom first.
SCRIPTURE AGAIN:
As we read the Scripture again, let’s ask the Lord to help us as a body to be a people that walks in seeking the Kingdom first…
28 “And why do you worry about clothes?
YIELD:
Jesus, we now yield to You and declare with our mouths…today I seek You and Your Kingdom first. I give You the distractions in my mind- I release them and choose to trust You. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, amen.
ENDING BLESSING:
Receive this blessing as we end our time together…
"May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. Go forth in gladness, carrying the light of His truth in your hearts. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ remain with you all."
