Monday - Because He Lives

May 25, 2026

Welcome to Daily Prayer. Normally you hear Brad and me but today you'll get to hear my

beautiful daughter, Bailey. This is Week 7 of the Because He Lives series — encounters with

the risen Jesus. Today we begin at Pentecost, when the promised Holy Spirit came upon the

gathered believers.

Let us quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord, anticipating a special

connection with him today.

Father, we give everyone and everything to you.

Acts 2:1-4 (ESV)

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from

heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And

divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled

with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

A Prayer of Worship

Holy Spirit, I worship you because you are real, present, and powerful. You are not just

something people talk about at church. You are God with us, helping us, leading us, and

making us more like Jesus. I praise you because you fill ordinary people with courage and

strength. You help us when we feel weak, nervous, confused, or unsure of what to do. You do

not leave us alone to figure everything out by ourselves. Thank you for being patient with me

as I learn to hear your voice and follow your leading. Help me become more aware of you in

everyday life—in my thoughts, my choices, my friendships, my school, my family, and the

moments when I feel pressure. I want my life to show that you are working in me.

A Prayer of Confession

Lord, I confess that I often try to live the Christian life in my own strength, forgetting how

desperately I need your Spirit. Forgive me for self-reliance. Forgive me for settling for religious

activity. There are places in my life where I have grown used to emptiness. There are places

where I have learned to function without deep dependence on you. Forgive me for the times I

try to stay in control. Forgive me for my distraction, pride, bitterness, or fear. Lord, I do not

want to merely know about Pentecost. I want to live as someone filled with your Spirit.

A Prayer of Petition

Holy Spirit, please fill me again. Fill the parts of me that feel tired, distracted, insecure, or

afraid. Help me want what you want. Give me courage to obey you, even when it feels

awkward or hard. Help me choose what is right when it would be easier to blend in, stay

quiet, or do what everyone else is doing. Give me wisdom for the decisions I face and

strength for the things that feel too big for me. Help me speak with kindness, live with

courage, and love people the way Jesus does. Please make my life more than just normal or

comfortable. Make it full of your presence, your truth, and your power.

Closing Prayer

During these last few moments, sit quietly before the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you

where you have been relying on your own strength. Pay attention to any area of life where you

feel tired, dry, pressured, or spiritually empty. Bring that place before God. Ask Him to fill you

again—not just with energy, but with His presence, wisdom, courage, and love. End bymaking yourself available to the Holy Spirit for whatever He wants to strengthen, change, or

awaken in you.
