Monday - The Letter of James (James 2:14-17)

Welcome to Daily Prayer. Let’s take a moment to prepare our hearts. There may already be a

lot on your mind. You don’t have to sort it all out before you pray. Father, today I give

everyone and everything to you. Help me pay attention to you and be honest about what’s

happening in my life.

James 2:14 & 17

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no

deeds? Can such faith save them? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied

by action, is dead.

Let’s sit with that for a moment. What would it look like for our faith to affect the way we live

today?

Let’s Ask God to Search Our Hearts

Father, search my heart and my life and show me places that you want to heal and transform.

I mean it when I say I want to follow you, but I know there are places of resistance. I can hear

your Word, agree with it, and still go through my day without changing anything. Sometimes

I’m distracted, but sometimes, if I am being honest, I am struggling to trust you. Help me be

truthful in those moments. I don’t want to make excuses, but I also don’t want to get stuck

feeling like a disappointment. Thank you that I can bring this to you and ask for help. Holy

Spirit, show me where you are currently working in my life.

Let’s Pray About Putting Our Faith to Action

Father, help me follow through today. Maybe there’s someone I need to reach out to. Maybe

I’ve offered to help and haven’t made the time. Holy Spirit, show me what I have been failing

to see. Bring one thing to mind.

Help me think about when and how I can put my faith to action. I know how easily a good

intention can disappear once the day gets going. If I need more accountability, help me ask. If

I need to reprioritize, show me how. I’m grateful that I don’t have to earn your love. Help me

respond to the love you’ve already given me. Let my faith affect my decisions today—in the

ordinary moments, with the people who are actually in front of me.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank you for your patience with me. As I go into this day, help me remember that the

people I meet matter deeply to you. Show me how to serve them with what I have. Keep me

grateful for your goodness and ready to share it. Allow someone to experience your

compassion through something I do today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
