Thursday - Enter In - Week 3
Welcome to daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on some of the key passages about life together. Today we reflect on Philippians 2 and the call to embrace the mind of Christ in our relationships with one another.
As we begin our prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD.
Lord, I come to you to be restored.
I draw near to experience communion with you.
I cast all my cares on you.
May your kingdom come and your will be done.
O Lord, open my ears that I would hear wonderful things in your Word.
A Scripture Reading from Philippians 2:1-5
2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
A Prayer of Adoration:
Lord Jesus, thank you for your example. For your tenderness and compassion to me in my brokenness and weakness. Lord, for your healing and comfort. Lord, your humility is incredible. You left glory so that we could be redeemed and experience your glory. You have brought us into intimate union and communion with you and for that, I adore you.
A Prayer of Confession:
Lord, I confess that I am often selfish. I have not obeyed your Word.
I look out for my own interests and I am often not that interested in the concerns of others. Forgive me.
Lord, forgive me for my lack of love and my failure to share. I have not had in mind the things that you value. Generosity, unity, sacrificial love. Lord, I forget how important it is to you that I highly value others. Renew me Lord.
A Prayer of Trust:
Lord, I trust that you are at work among us. I trust that I am united with you. Lord, I am a recipient of your kindness and I know that you intend for me to share that with others. I believe there is more joy available for us as we share our lives together. Thank you for your grace.
A Prayer of Intercession:
Lord, you are always at work around us. Encouraging us. Comforting us. Showing us compassion and tenderness. You call us to encourage, and comfort and share with one another. I pray that you would increase our awareness of all the ways you are moving among us. That we would be intentional about sharing testimonies of your goodness. That we would be active in encouraging and comforting each other. Lord, unite us together around the mind, heart, and humility of Jesus.
I pray that we as a church would be intentional about facilitating opportunities for people to give away and share what you have done for us. Help us Lord.
A Moment of Reflection:
Lord, what encouragement or comfort have I received from you that you would have me share with others this week?
Give me eyes to see who I can encourage and support Lord.
A Closing Prayer:
Lord, we are united around one hope and one faith. Renew us Lord.
Give us grace to reflect your heart and ways to one another. You have given us your Spirit. You have given us the mind of Christ. Help us think with your thoughts and live by your Spirit together. We don’t merely want to be hearers of your Word but doers. We depend on you for life.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
