Monday - The Letter of James (James 1:12)

Aug 31, 2026

Welcome to Daily Prayer.

We're in the second week of our series on the letter of James. Today we are shown that a crown of life is waiting for those who trust the promise of God and love Him until the end.

As we begin our time together, let's take a few deep breaths and remember that the Lord Jesus loves us and gave himself for us (Gal 2:20).

Father, I want to be found faithful in the end. I want to be wholehearted and steadfast.

I give you all my thoughts and open the door to every room of my life.

I am yours.

I give everyone and everything to you.

Lord, give us wisdom to understand what faithful endurance looks like.

Help us not give up when life is hard. Help us recognize that faithfulness matters, even when no one else sees it.

We humble ourselves before you, Lord. You are the one we trust.

Inspire us to see and act on the wisdom of your Word.

A Scripture Reading from James 1:12:

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of lifethat the Lord has promised to those who love him."

A Prayer of Adoration:

Lord, you're a promise-maker and a promise-keeper. You have revealed yourself and you are good. You are worthy of all of our trust and all of our love.

You created us. You redeem us. You have promised the crown of life to all who persevere, and we praise you in the midst of every season.

A Prayer of Confession:

Lord, we know that the only thing that counts is faith working through love. What matters in the end is love. Lord, forgive us when we have given up and given in.

*"Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves." We repent. We turn from our pride and self-sufficiency, and look to you.

Lord, for the sake of your Son, pour your grace on us that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name.

Today we declare: we trust your promise. So we set our hearts to overcome. Give us grace to stand. Renew our minds with the honor and privilege of knowing you and loving you.

A Prayer of Intercession:

Father, strengthen those who are tired today. Strengthen parents who are weary. Couples who are struggling, give them vision. Strengthen those among us fighting temptation and despair. For those among us who are waiting for healing or restoration, Lord, give them endurance and bring healing. Help us to be active in supporting one another, Lord.

A Moment of Reflection:

Lord, where am I being tempted to give up or give in?

Lord, this is where I need you. I hold on to your promise today. You are worth trusting in every season.

Let's listen to the passage again and consider what faithfulness looks like for you today:

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of lifethat the Lord has promised to those who love him."

Our Weekly Memory Verse:

James 1:12

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of lifethat the Lord has promised to those who love him."

A Closing Prayer:

Father, give us the grace to endure. Help us remain steadfast when we're tested, and remind us that you see, you know, and you are faithful to reward. Nothing is wasted.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.
