Fasting The Way God Wants

When we fast, are we fasting with the right heart? Fasting reminds us that God is more than enough, and we should be filled with grace and mercy toward others when we spend more time with God. If fasting doesn't soften our hearts but hardens them, are we fasting for religion...or for our Father?
