Welcome to a new week of daily prayer. This week we are reflecting on Elohim—The purposeful Creator God of Genesis 1 who forms and gives life to all things by his Word and Spirit. 

As we enter prayer now, let’s pause to be still. Let’s breath slowly as we quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord. 

Opening Surrender:

Creator God, Here I am. I am available. 

I release all my worries and cares into your hands. I give every worry and every care to you.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. 

A Scripture Reading From Genesis 1:1-3:

“In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

Now the earth was formless and empty, 

darkness was over the surface of the deep, 

and the Spirit of Elohim was hovering over the waters. 

And Elohim said, “Let there be light,” 

and there was light.”

A Prayer of Adoration:

God, my Elohim, you are the Creator of everyone and everything. You are the One who brings order out of chaos and light into darkness. By your Word, everything was made. By your Spirit, you give life to your creation. I praise you for the beauty, majesty, and goodness of your creation, which declares your glory.

A Prayer of Confession:

Creator God, Forgive me when I forget that I am a creature and not the Creator. Forgive me for trying to make my own life the center of the story. Today, I acknowledge that you are my Maker and I am completely dependent on you. 

A Prayer of Trust:

Lord, I trust that you are the one who spoke the world into being and you hold my life in your hands. I thank you that you are not just powerful but wise and good and I trust you.

A Prayer of Intercession:

My Elohim, I pray for those who do not yet see your hand in creation. Open their eyes to the beauty of your world and to the truth that you are the Creator God. May they come to know you, love you, and worship you through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

A Moment of Reflection:

Creator God, you can create and bring life out of nothing. What area of my life do I need to entrust to your loving care today?

My Elohim, Creator of heaven and earth, may I live today as one of your creatures, made in your image, reflecting your glory.
