Thursday Prayer

Welcome to daily prayer. Today we reflect on the presence of the God of peace and the gift of his peace that guards our hearts and minds.


As we enter prayer now, let’s quiet our hearts and minds before the LORD. 


Surrender

LORD, I surrender my anxious thoughts and heavy heart to you.


LORD, my Rock and my Refuge, I release my fears, my need to control, and the burden of trying to make everything right on my own.


God of peace, I place my heaviness into your hands and rest in your love.


I give everyone and everything to you. 


O Lord, open my lips and my mouth will declare your praise. 


A Scripture Reading from Philippians 4:6-9

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”


A Prayer of Adoration:

Lord, I set my mind on you. You are faithful and good, even when life feels chaotic. You hear my prayers. You are the God of peace and you give peace that is beyond what I can understand. 


You are my Rock, my Shield, and my Comforter. 


You have made the world with good and beautiful things and have done good and beautiful things for us. You intend for us to set our minds on those things.


Thank You for Your unfailing love and for giving me peace that the world cannot take away.


I worship you for being present with me in every season and for inviting me to bring everything to you. 


A Prayer of Confession:

LORD, forgive me for holding onto fear and doubt instead of trusting you. Forgive me for trying to carry my burdens alone, for letting anxiety, negativity or sadness control my thoughts. Forgive me for forgetting all the good that you have done for me and for not setting my mind on you and your good gifts. Burn away all the fear, cleanse my heart from worry and guard my heart and mind with your peace.


A Prayer of Trust:

Father, I choose to trust you. Even when I cannot understand, your peace guards my heart and mind. I trust that your grace is sufficient for me. I trust that I will experience your presence as I talk with you, focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable, and follow what you have taught me in your Word.


A prayer of Intercession:

LORD, bring peace to those who are stuck in the mire of anxiety, fear, or depression today. Set their feet upon the rock. Give hope to those who feel hopeless. Give them the garment of praise instead of the spirit of despair. May your Spirit surround them and bring calm, assurance, and joy.


A Moment of Reflection:

Lord, is there anything I’m letting dominate my thoughts that is not true, noble, right, pure, lovely, or praiseworthy?


Lord, thank you for your grace. Please give me your perspective and your peace.


A Closing Prayer:

Lord, thank you for your peace. I will not let fear or worry narrate my life story. I entrust myself to you and trust that you are in charge of my story. Help me to trust you more today, to focus on what is true and good, and to live in the reality of your love. I give you all that I am, and I rest in your faithful care.
