Tuesday - Because He Lives
Welcome to Daily Prayer. This is Week 7 of the Because He Lives series — encounters with
the risen Jesus. Today we see people from many nations hearing the mighty works of God in
their own languages. Ask the Lord to expand your heart beyond what is familiar.
Let us quiet our hearts and minds before the Lord, anticipating a special connection with him today.
Father, we give everyone and everything to you.
Acts 2:5-13 (ESV)
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under
heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because
each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And they were amazed and
astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear,
each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of
Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and
the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of
God.” And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”
But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”
A Prayer of Gratitude
Father, thank you that your love is bigger than one country, one language, one church, or one
group of people. Thank you that the good news of Jesus is for the whole world. Thank you
that you know how to speak to people in ways they can understand. You know every person’s
story, every culture, every background, and every heart. Thank you for the people who helped
me understand Jesus. Thank you for the people who taught me, prayed for me, encouraged
me, and helped make faith feel real. Help me not take that for granted. Help me remember
that there are people everywhere who still need to hear the hope of Jesus clearly and
personally.
A Prayer of Intercession
Lord, I pray for the nations today. I pray for people who have never heard the mighty works of
God in a way they can understand. Send laborers into the harvest. Strengthen missionaries,
Bible translators, church planters, pastors, and believers serving in difficult places. Protect
them from discouragement, isolation, fear, and spiritual attack. I pray for people in my own
community who feel far from God because of language, culture, background, wounds,
confusion, or past experiences with church. Help your people speak the truth of Jesus clearly
and lovingly. Give believers wisdom to communicate the gospel without unnecessary barriers.A Prayer of Trust
Lord, I trust that you know how to reach people I care about, even when I do not know what
to say. You can work in their hearts in ways I cannot see. Help me trust you with friends,
classmates, family members, and people around the world who need Jesus. Remind me that
nobody is too far away from your love. Give me faith to believe that small things matter—a
kind word, a prayer, an invitation, a conversation, or simply living differently because of Jesus.
Help me be faithful with the opportunities you give me, and help me trust you with the results.
Closing Prayer
During these last few moments, ask the Lord to bring a person, people group, or nation to
your heart. Pray for them to hear and understand the mighty works of God in a way that is
clear and personal. Ask God to remove barriers that keep them from receiving the truth of
Jesus. Consider whether there is one simple way you could help make Jesus clearer to
someone this week—through a conversation, encouragement, invitation, act of kindness, or
prayer.
